Lisa Rogers from Azami Karate Group participated in the recent Cumbria Open championships and won a bronze medal in the senior female open weight kumite event.

Congratulations to the following members of Azami Karate Group who won medals at the recent SKF kata championships: Dylan Forrester (Gold), Andrew Aitchison (Gold), Robert Hinton (Gold), Lisa Rogers (Gold), Kate Holligan (Bronze), Iona Guild (Bronze), John Wilson (Bronze). In the pairs event Ally Green and Andrew Aitchison won Bronze, as did Lisa Rogers and John Wilson.

Congratulations to all the members of Azami Karate Group who participated in the Azami Karate Group Kata Championships. Kids Junior Grades 2nd place Kirsty Grant. Kids 8th  – 7th Kyu 1st place Steven Grant. Kids 3rd – 1st Kyu 1st place Robert Hinton, 2nd Place Kate Holligan, 3rd Place Iona Guild. Adults 9th-4th Kyu 2nd Place Steven Wood. Adults Dan Grade 1st place Lisa Rogers. Kids 9th-4th Kyu teams 2nd Place Azami C (Dylan Forrester, Aaron Taylor, Eilidh McCabe), 3rd Place Azami B (Steven Grant, Kirsty Grant, Andrew Aitchison) 4th place Azami A (Alexander Green, Fraser Albiston, Megan Clouston). Kids 3rd Kyu + teams 4th place  Azami A (Robert Hinton, William Newey, Andrew Green), 5th place Azami B (Caitlyn Reeder, Kate Holligan, Iona Guild).

Recent Results

Members of Azami Karate Group have had a lot of sucess in the recent championships.

Kirsty Grant won 2nd place at the East Whitburn competition and was also placed 3rd in the Grangemouth championships.

At the Karate Academy Kata championships Abbey McConnachy won the girls half kata section with Rachel Heather 3rd in the same section. Iona Guild and Kate Holligan were placed 2nd and 3rd respectively in the kids 3rd-1st kyu category. Lisa Rogers won the Female senior Dan Grade section.

At the Meadowbank junior open, Kirsty Grant, Andrew Aitchison and Iona Guild won 3rd places with Kate Holligan winning 2nd place.

Scottish Kumite Championships

The SKGB Kumite championships were held on Sunday 30th November 2008. Lisa Rogers was placed 2nd in the Female Senior Open Weight Kumite. Lisa was also a member of the SKF team which became Scottish Champions in the Ladies Senior Team Event.

Scottish Kata Championships

The Scottish Karate Governing Body Kata Championships were held on Saturday 29th November 2008. Robert Hinton became Scottish Wado Kai Kata Champion for the boys 13-15 Years age group. Stephanie Whitelaw was 2nd in the Female 16-17 years Wado Kai section and also was placed 3rd in the All-Styles category. Lisa Rogers became Scottish Wado Kai Kata Champion in the Senior Female Section.

Dan Grade

Congratulations to Caitlyn Reeder, who at 10 years old has just become the youngest ever black belt from Azami Karate Group. Caitlyn passed the grade of 1st Dan black belt on Saturday 22nd November 2008 at the grading held in Meadowbank Sports Centre.

Meadowbank Junior Open

Congratulations to Aaron Taylor and Dillon Forrester won were 1st and 2nd Respectively in the under 4′5″ junior grades category at the Meadowbank Junior Open. Well done also to Robert Hinton who was 3rd in the Boys under 5′2″ kyu/dan grade category.

European Wado Cup

Congratulations to Lisa Rogers who was a member of the Scottish team who won the Ladies Kumite team event at the recent European Wado Cup in Luxembourg. Lisa also won a bronze medal in the ladies -55kg kumite event.
